Lula E. Hurxthal

Lula E. (Bowen) Hurxthal, 92, of Galesburg, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2012 at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville. Lula was born and raised in Monmouth the daughter of Luther J. and Luella (Kline) Bowen.  She moved to Galesburg in 1974. She married Fred Hurxthal on January 12, 1935 in Galesburg.  he preceded her in death on December 25, 1962.  She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Beverly Wade.  Lula is survived by two grandchildren, Luellen Vinic and Terry Wade; and two great grandchildren, Ben and Ethan Wade.  She worked at Formfit in Monmouth and Galesburg Research Hospital retiring in 1984.  She belonged to the Red Hat Club.  Lula enjoyed going to church and was a member and deaconess at the former Advent Christian Church.  She also enjoyed spending time with her family. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2012 at the Monmouth Cemetery.  Rev. Don Reynolds will officiate.  There will be no visitation.  Memorials may be made to Knox County Nursing Home.  Watson-Thomas Funeral  Home, has been entrusted with arrangements.
