Lyle Vincent Kisler, 82, of Galesburg, passed away Thursday, February 07, 2013 at Seminary Manor surrounded by his loving family. Lyle was born November 7, 1930 in New Boston Twp, IL, the son of Ralph and Anna (Leahigh) Kisler. He married Elizabeth Jean (Betty) Petrini on January 17, 1953 at St. Donatus Church in Blue Island, IL. Lyle is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty, of Galesburg, a son, James Kisler (Ruth Normandin) of Eldorado Hills, CA and three daughters: Jeanne Calabrese (Robert) of Montreal, QC, Canada, Janet Linde (Chris) of Ottawa, and Jennifer Boos (Tim) of Lisle. He is also survived by two brothers, Boyd and Richard (Colleen), a sister, Kathryn Tracy (Glen), and a sister-in-law, Ann Kisler, all of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by brothers Willian Dean, Roy, and Clyde and sisters-in-law, Marge, Marjean, and Dorothy. Lyle leaves behind thirteen grandchildren: Crosby and Kelsey Kisler, Matthew and Francesca Calabrese, Alana, Reese, Alexa, Alyse, and Regan Linde, Allison and Grant Boos and step grandchildren, Ben and Sarah Normandin as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Lyle was the co-owner and president of Hi Lo Grocery where he worked for 59 years. Lyle was a long time member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Illinois Grocers Association as well as a member of the Moose Lodge. Throughout the years he supported many local youth sports organizations and various community service organizations. Lyle was a family man in every sense of the word. He loved and embraced first and foremost his own family as well as his work family, his community family and most recently his Seminary Manor family. He never knew a stranger and loved helping others. He will continue to help others through the new memorial fund being set up in his honor. Funeral Mass for Lyle will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2013 with rosary following at 8:30 pm at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home, Galesburg. Donations may be made to Lyle & Elizabeth Kisler Memorial Fund for the benefit of Costa Catholic Academy.
