Lynette “Lynn” Marie Fields, 63, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away Sunday December 3, 2023 at home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 13, 1960 in Dubuque, Iowa to Elmer and Mary Ann Luensmann. She was raised on a farm outside of Farley, Iowa. Lynn attended school at St. Joseph’s in Farley, and graduated from Western Dubuque High School in Epworth, Iowa. She graduated from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with a degree in merchandising. She spent many years working in retail before moving to Galesburg in 1984. Her employment in Galesburg consisted of working at Giant/Econo Foods, Insight Communications/Comcast, Seminary Manor, USDA, and Carl Sandburg College.

Lynn is survived by her husband John, whom she married on January 28, 2005 in Galesburg. Two daughters, Alaina (Jason) Shuey of Peoria, Illinois and Brianna (Mark) Tressell of Galesburg, Illinois. A granddaughter Lily Shuey and a grandson, Archer Shuey. She is also survived by one sister, Suzanne Buelow of the Villages, Florida; five brothers, Tom (Joyce) Luensmann and Steve (Nancy) Luensmann both of Dublin, Georgia, Phil (Brenda) Luensmann of Salido, Colorado, Dan Luensmann of Worthington, Iowa, and Bill (Linda) Luensmann of Sherrill, Iowa; along with many nieces, nephews, close friends, Jason and Maggie Ross of Galesburg, and godchildren, Austin, Kaylee, and Kalob.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, a godson, Robbie Luensmann, and a brother-in-law, Greg Buelow.

Lynn was a faithful and active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Galesburg, serving as a member of the Ladies of Mary, taught CCD, was a lector and Eucharistic minister. She served on the board of Catholic Charities, was co-director of a retreat program called CHRP and was a member of Knox County Right to Life. Lynn was also part of several other ministries, such as Elizabeth Ministry, Junior Ladies, WATCH retreat program, and Cursillo retreat program.

Lynn selflessly cared for others, always putting everyone before herself and would change her plans to help others in need. Her love and passion for her family and faith was unwavering and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2023 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be made in Lynn’s memory to Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Knox County Right to Life, and the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
