Marcella Marie Atwater, 90, of Galesburg, died peacefully at home with her daughter by her side Sunday, December 20, 2020. Marcella was born January 15, 1930 in Fairfield, IA, the daughter of Anthony and Bertha Olive (Kilburn) Peck. She married William H. Atwater. They later divorced. Marcella is survived by her daughter, Judy D. Krueger of Galesburg; two granddaughters, Jennifer Wilkes and Kimberley (Justin) Morefield both of Bloomington and eight great grandchildren. Marcella is also survived by three sisters, JoAnn Allerdice of Fairfield, IA, Shirley Miller of West Point, IA, and Donna Kennedy of Fairfield, IA. Marcella was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jessica Jones; five brothers, Harley, Larry, Harold, Francis, and Clifford; and three sisters, Ethel Mineart, Louise Reed, and Lucille Beverlin. Marcella worked at the Army Ammunition Plant in Danville, IA; later working at Sylvania Electric in Burlington, IA; and retired from OMC Gale Products in Galesburg. She was of the Catholic faith. Marcella loved baking, her pies were simply amazing. She also enjoyed tending to her flower gardens; and loved country music and dancing. Saucy, as she was fondly called by those who loved her, had many wonderful and special relationships with family, nieces and nephews and close friends. Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, social distancing, limited occupancy, and face masks will be enforced. Private family funeral services will be held. Private family burial will be in Fairfield, IA. A celebration of life will be held at a later date when Covid restrictions are lifted. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
