Margaret B. Coughlin, 93, of Maquon, formerly of Peoria, died at 8:05 a.m. Monday, February 22, 2010 at OSF ST. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. Margaret was born on April 20, 1916 in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Frank and Ida Kuhl VanBergen. She married Don Coughlin on June 9, 1936. The love of her life for almost 63 years, Don preceded Margaret in death on April 9, 1999. Surviving Margaret are three daughters, Sally (and Phil) Martin of Maquon, Sandy (and Gary) Brudos of Denver, CO, and Sue (and Dino Ianni) Coughlin also of Denver, CO; 13 grandchildren, 34, great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter. Also surviving Margaret is a sister, Ruth (and Jim) Beck of Granville, IA. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 5 brothers. Margaret’s life devotion was to her husband, Don, her children, and her grandchildren. She was of the catholic faith. Margaret had worked several jobs throughout life, last working for Great Central Insurance Co. in Peoria, retiring in 1996. A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 26, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Brimfield, with Father John M. Verrier officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Peoria affiliate. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Funeral Home, Galesburg.
