Margaret Stewart Hendricks passed peacefully in Miami, Florida on June 7, 2013. Margaret was born in Galesburg, Illinois on May 13, 1926. She was raised by loving parents and blessed with the friendship of six siblings. She graduated from Galesburg High School. Margaret met her beloved Robert in Galesburg, and the two married on February 15, 1947. They soon had three children, Kathleen Hendricks Brooks (Phil Brooks), Peggy Hendricks Pagan, and Robert Christopher Hendricks. With adventurous hearts the family moved to Miami, Florida and Margaret and Robert created a joyful life in the tropical paradise. Margaret spent her years in Miami doing the things she admired most - entertaining friends, caring for extended family, and excelling in many mediums of art. Bob's retirement was the perfect time for the couple to create their beautiful log home and legacy in Cullowhee, NC. Their verve for learning led them on adventures in the woods, identifying local plants, mushrooms, and birds! When they were ready to explore further, they bought an RV and traveled the United States under the name "The Gypsy Two". While discovering favorite new places, Margaret and Bob made it a priority to provide a constant outpouring of love over their grandchildren - Lisa, Jeffrey, Eric, Jessica, Jenny, Joanna, Stephen, Jeffrey, and Victoria. Margaret's brightest light in most recent years was being a great-grandma to Amanda, Natalie, and Jude! Margaret spent her last years between Fort Myers and Miami, where she enjoyed shelling on Sanibel Island, reading, and spending time with her family. Anyone lucky enough to have known Margaret was touched by her sweet, smiling heart. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville. Pastor Ron Scarlett will officiate. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home in Galesburg.
