Margie A. Noe, 80, formerly of Galesburg and Dahinda, died at 5:10 p.m., July 2, 2011 at OSF St. Clare Nursing Home in Peoria Heights, Illinois. She was born September 14, 1930 in Little Falls, Minn., the daughter of Robert C. and Annie Bredesen Lockhart. She married Gilbert C. Noe on August 21, 1948, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2000. Margie is survived by her three daughters, Debra (and Jim) Johanningsmeier of Germantown Hills, Cynthia (and Charles Grice) M. Noe, of New York, NY, and Kathy (and Mitch) Bowman of Dahinda; three sisters, Verna Solorz of Buffalo, MN, Betty Libsock of Peoria, AZ, and Shirley Strandberg of Monticello, MN. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Eric M. Johanningsmeier of San Jose CA, Nate (and Becky) Johanningsmeier of San Jose CA, Amanda (and Adam) Binger of Peoria, Reggie (and Angela) Bowman of Pekin, Jake Bowman of Dahinda, and Kathryn Noe Grice of New York, NY; and three great grandchildren, Morgan Binger of Peoria and Maddie Johanningsmeier and Lucas Johanningsmeier both of San Jose. She was also preceded in death by an older sister, Lois Swanson of South Dakota. Margie, along with her husband, owned and operated the Mr. Softee Ice Cream Trucks in Galesburg from 1961 to 1970. During that time, Margie’s business success with the company was nationally recognized. She later worked for Admiral Manufacturing Co., retiring in 1982; she also worked for Oakview Corporation. Margie was most recently a member of the Dahinda United Methodist Church. She had also been a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where she served as a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Cremation rites have been accorded and a private family burial will be held at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the Jack E. Larson Endowment Fund c/o the Galesburg Community Foundation, OSF St. Clare Nursing Home in Peoria Heights, or OSF Hospice.
