Marilyn A. Hedges

Marilyn A. Hedges, 92, of Galesburg, formerly of Clifton, VA, died at 10:25 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018, at home. Marilyn was born March 17, 1925 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of Albert and Anna (Webb) Bauer. She married Harold Clayton Hedges in Baltimore on October 2, 1954; he preceded her in death on March 9, 2008. She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey B. Hedges of Bend, OR and John H. Hedges of Galesburg. Along with her parents and husband, Marilyn was also preceded in death by her brother, Albert, and her daughter, Kerry. Marilyn graduated in 1946 from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and in 1992 received a Masters degree in Education from Virginia Tech. She was active in the League of Women Voters in Fairfax, VA, and held leadership roles in several community and neighborhood betterment organizations. Cremation rites will be accorded and no local services are planned. Marilyn's cremated remains will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery with those of her husband. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
