Mark Edward “Elmo, Big Moe” Ladwig, 65, of Galesburg, died after a battle with cancer at 10:14 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at home. Mark was born March 13, 1957 in Peoria, Illinois the son of Edward Walter and Norma Jean (Swearingen) Ladwig. Mark is survived by one brother, Michael (Bessie) Ladwig of Galesburg; one sister, Rebecca (John) Carnes of Blue Grass, Iowa; one nephew, James E. (Thea) Lawson of Brighton, Illinois; and three great nieces, Kennedy, Karis, and Aletheia. Mark was preceded in death by his parents; and his step father, Billy George Kimball, Sr. Mark was a kind and gentle person. He enjoyed spending time in the kitchen and sharing his treats with friends, family, and neighbors. Mark enjoyed riding his bicycle around town, crafting, and listening to and playing music on his keyboard. He enjoyed bowling and bowled several years on a Monday night bowling league with First Christian Church. He also had played on his church’s softball team. He enjoyed watching WWE wrestling on TV. Cremation rites will be accorded. No services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home at 1849 N. Seminary St., Galesburg, IL 61401.
