Martha Black

Martha Black, 75, of Fairview, formerly of Galesburg, died at 2:08 p.m. on Tuesday July 3, 2007 at Cottage Hospital. Martha was born on April 1, 1932 in Canton, the daughter of James and Lois Shaw Gonterman. She married Robert Black on July 28, 1959 in Las Vegas, NV. He died in 2001. Surviving Martha are 1 sister Louise Ward of Fairview; 4 nephews: William (Anita) Ward of Fairview, Howard (Peggy) Ward of Rogers, AR, James Ward of Canton, and Jackson Ward of Fairview; several great nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding her in death was one sister. Martha graduated from Canton High School and worked as a dietary worker at the Mental Health Center from 41 years, retiring in 1998. She was a member of AFSCME retirees. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday July 6, 2007 at Watson Funeral Home, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday July 5, 2007 at Watson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Havana.
