Martha Lingwall, 65, of 121 W. Simmons St. Galesburg, died at 12:30 p.m. on December 14, 2006 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Martha was born on June 9, 1941 in Toulon, the daughter of John Gaffield and Margaret Nye. After the death of Martha's mother at the age of 13 she was raised by her aunt Elizabeth Chamberlain. Surviving Martha are 4 daughters, Judith (Terry) Slagel of Abingdon, Brenda (John) Anderson, Melissa (Joe) Delgado, and Amy Lingwall all of Galesburg. Also surviving are one brother Marion Cantwell of Lakeland, FL, 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and a cousin whom she lived with growing up Lynda Ingels of Kewanee. She was preceded in death by her mother and her aunt. Martha worked as a mental health technician, first working at Galesburg Mental Health Center, then working at the Harrington Home for girls in Galesburgfor 5 years, then working at the Illinois Department of Mental Health at the Ann Kiley Center in Waukegan for over 10 years, retiring in 2000. She also was employed for many years at the Cozy Inn in Galesburg. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday December 19, 2006 at Westfall Cemetery, rural Victoria. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. on Monday, December 18 at Watson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Westfall Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
