Mary A. Kennedy

Mary Anna Kennedy, 69, of Galesburg, died at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at home. Mary was born December 11, 1951 in Galesburg, the daughter of Edward and Catherine (O’Connor) Kennedy.  Mary is survived by one son, Adam (Gretchen) Gilbert of Abingdon; one grandson, Tyson Gilbert; and one brother, Patrick (Lucy) Kennedy of Galesburg.  Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Kennedy; and three sisters, Sarah Links, Martha Riggs, and Sheila Young. Mary worked as a CNA for 28 years at OSF St. Mary Medical Center and various area nursing homes.  She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Galesburg and a member of the Women’s International Bowling Congress (WIBC).  Mary enjoyed embroidery and was an avid John Wayne fan. Cremation has been accorded.  Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2021 at Abingdon Cemetery, Abingdon.  Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
