Mary A. Sullivan

Mary A. Sullivan, 80, of 550 E. Carl Sandburg Dr,. Galesburg, died at 12:39 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Cottage Hospital.    Mary was born on December 27, 1929 in Abingdon, the daughter of Joseph K. and Mary E. (Peake) Masterson.  She married Eugene J. Sullivan, III on September 16, 1950 in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death on April 16, 2004.    Mary is survived by her 3 sons, Eugene J. (and Susan) Sullivan, IV of Galesburg, Kevin (and Maureen) Sullivan of Golden, CO, and Patrick (and Kimberley) Sullivan of Ellisville, MO; her 3 daughters, Kelly (and Linus) VanderWyst of Galesburg, Shannon (and Daniel) Fish of Dixon, and Erin (and Terry) Shelley of Danville, IN; and her 2 sisters, Marjorie Cecil and Marie Peterson both of Baytown, TX.  She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  Mary was preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister.   Mary graduated from Corpus Christi High School.  She was Assistant Manager at Kerasotes Theatres in Galesburg for many years, retiring in 1974.  She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  Mary will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.   Mary’s funeral mass will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with Rev. William Miller, IC officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, August 27, 2010 at Watson Funeral Home, from 6-8 p.m. with the rosary being prayed at 8 p.m.  Memorials may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church or to the YMCA Activate Galesburg capital campaign.
