Mary Dodson

Mary L. Dodson, 87, of West St. Paul, MN, formerly of Galesburg, died at 4:15 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at United Hospital, St. Paul, MN. Mary Leona was born on March 5, 1926 in Bushnell, IL, the daughter of Lyle G. and Irma G. (Dutton) Howe.  She married AB Dodson on November 6, 1948 in Bushnell, IL.  He preceded her in death on December 13, 2002.  Mary is survived by two daughters, Dianna Dodson of Frisco, TX and Sandy Dodson of West St. Paul, MN; one son, Jim Dodson of Mackinaw; eight grandchildren and two great granddaughters.  She is also survived by four brothers, Otis G. Howe of Plymouth, Lyle E. Howe of Havana, Donald W. Howe of Knoxville, and Leland R. Howe of Macomb; and one sister-in-law, Altha Grider of Villa Park, IL. Mary graduated from the Cottage Hospital School of Nursing.  As a registered nurse, Mary worked in several settings including Cottage Hospital, the former Galesburg Research Center, OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Family Planning, the American Red Cross, and Seminary Manor.  She retired in 1995.  Mary was a dedicated member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and was a member of the Ladies of Mary.  She was also a member of Cottage Retirement Nurses Association.  She leaves of legacy of many kindnesses. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate.  Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2014 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorials may be directed to Costa Catholic Academy.
