Mary E. Chewning

Mary Elizabeth Chewning, 37, of Chicago, formerly of Galesburg, died at 8:32 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2022 in Chicago, Illinois. Mary was born June 5, 1985 in Monmouth, Illinois. She is survived by her mother, Jody L. (David) Mahoney of Galesburg; step-parents, Danny (Cindy) Webster of Blandinsville, IL; and one son, Jaden S. Chewning. Mary is also survived by one brother, Drake (Hannah) Webster of Blandinsville, IL; one sister, Michelle (Luis) Hernandez of Galesburg; the father of her late daughter, Ricardo Dorantez of Tell City, IN; along with numerous aunts, uncles, and other relatives. Mary has two nephews, Caleb Martinez and Dawson Webster; and three nieces, Alexa Hernandez, Alivia Hernandez, and Vivian Webster. Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Natalie Chewning on September 12, 2009. When Mary was healthy, she thoroughly enjoyed exercise from biking to yoga and Pilates. She also loved music and could often be found singing and dancing. Mary had a sparkling personality and was a caring and loving person, putting others before herself and loved being a mother. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1977 E. Fremont St., Galesburg, Illinois 61401. Cremation will be accorded following services.
