Mary J. Rutledge

Mary J. Rutledge, 80, of 1419 Hollycrest Circle, Galesburg, died at 9:28 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Cottage Hospital.   Mary was born on January 20, 1929 in Galesburg, the daughter of John L. and Mildred R. Gavin Cline. She married Kenneth “Mike” Rutledge on July 24, 1947 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2001. Surviving Mary are a son, Patrick (Rosalie) of Galesburg; and a daughter, Kathleen Rutledge of Galesburg. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Bill) Pilat of Martinsville, IN and Jennifer Rutledge or San Diego, CA; 4 great grandsons and 1 great great granddaughter. Preceding her in death were a grandson Michael, a brother and a sister.   Mary was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and served as an extraordinary minister. She was a member of the Ladies of Mary. She was the receptionist at Knox OB-Gyn, ltd, in Galesburg for over 20 years, retiring in 1994.  Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2009 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, with Monsignor Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday at Watson Funeral Home with the rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
