Mary Jean Redington Weigand, 93, of rural Galesburg, died at 6:58 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, IL. Mary Jean was born March 25, 1928, in Galesburg, the daughter of Catherine Ruth (Worden) and A.F. Redington.  She married Robert J. Weigand on June 6, 1953, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg.  Bob preceded her in death on October 6, 2014.  Mary Jean is survived by three daughters, Rosemary Weigand of Bloomington, IL, Denise (Terry) Zost of Layton, UT, and Julie (Richard) Hopkins of Green Valley, IL; and one son, Michael Weigand of Santa Fe, NM.  Mary Jean is also survived by her five grandchildren, Seth (Ashley) Zost, Mary Zost, Andy Hopkins, Evan Hopkins, and Madeline (Jacob) Figge. Mary Jean spent much of her life living on the farm that has been in the family since 1876. Mary Jean was member of the Knox County Farm Bureau for over 50 years.  Mary Jean and her beloved grandmother, Hanora Redington, enjoyed taking trips checking on various family-owned properties throughout the United States.Mary Jean received her bachelor’s degree from Clarke College in Dubuque, IA. While attending college, Mary Jean made many lifelong friends whose company she enjoyed.  Mary Jean was a faithful member of the Galesburg Catholic community, receiving all her sacraments at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.  She was dedicated and faithful in correspondence with family and friends. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2021, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  The Funeral Mass will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Father William T. Miller, officiating.  Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the family is requesting all in attendance to wear a mask.  Services will be livestreamed via www.watsonthomas.com .  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Carmelite Monastery, 49 Mount Carmel Road, Santa Fe, NM 87505.  The family extends appreciation for the care given to their Mother by the staff at Knox County Nursing Home and OSF Hospice.
