Mary M. (Glasnovich) McMahon, 79, of Galesburg, died 3:31 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg. Mary was born on November 8, 1932 in Galesburg, the daughter of Jako and Elizabeth (Matto) Glasnovich. She married William G. McMahon on March 19 1952 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on December 21 1992. Mary is the loving mother of two sons, Scott (and Sharon) or Azle, TX and Marc of Galesburg ; and three daughters, Debbie Simonson of Galesburg, Nanci (and David) Moore of Muscatine, IA, and Angie (and Brian) Schisler of Galesburg. Mary is also survived by brothers, Nick (and Pat) Glasnovich of Sun City, FL, Bill Glasnovich of Galesburg, Phil (and Pat) Glasnovich of Abingdon, John (and Jean Ann) Glasnovich of Rio, Steve (and Sara) Glasnovich of Galesburg, and David (and Paula) Glasnovich of Galesburg; and sisters, Susie Howard of Galesburg, Cecilia “Tedi” Maxwell of Galesburg, Theresa (and Bill) Bivens of Galesburg, and Anna (and David) Skrzelowski of Lakeside Park, KY; seven granddaughters, three grandsons, 4 great grandsons and one great granddaughter. Along with her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Glasnovich and Mike Glasnovich and a sister, Cecilia Glasnovich. Mary graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1950. After she and Bill were married she became a homemaker later working for Galesburg Cottage Hospital and last working as a teacher’s aide for CUSD #205 where she retired. Mary was a faithful and devout member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, St. Patrick’s and Corpus Christi Altar and Rosary Society. Mary could often be found tending to her yard and flowers, both of which she was proud of. Mary also enjoyed knitting and spending as much time as she was able with her grandchildren. A Funeral Mass for Mary will be 10 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2012 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph Presley, I.C. officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home, with the rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick’s Altar and Rosary Society, American Cancer Society, or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
