Mary N. Stinson

Mary N. Stinson, 88, of 759 S. Academy St., Galesburg, passed away at 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.   Mary was born on January 18, 1920 in Galesburg the daughter of Oria Thomas and Kathryn Elizabeth Flynn Wiles.  She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1938.  She married Guy A. Stinson on April 13, 1940.  He preceded her in death on August 4, 2000 after 60 years of marriage.  Also preceding her in death were her parents.   She is survived by her two sons, James (and Linda) and Phillip (and Judy) both of Galesburg; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.    Mary was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and its Altar and Rosary Society and St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary where she was an officer for over 40 years.  She was Sacristy Chairman at St. Patrick’s for over 50 years.   Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 4 at St. Patrick’s Church.  Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Watson Funeral Home, with the rosary being prayed at 8 p.m.  Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to St. Patrick’s Church or to OSF ST. Mary’s Auxiliary.
