Mary Roseann Shea, age 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 7, 2020, at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home in Joliet, IL, with her family by her side. Roseann was born in Galesburg, IL on March 21, 1939, the daughter of the late Leslie and Ann (nee Cavanaugh) Shea. She was a graduate of Corpus Christi High School and attended Marycrest College, Davenport, IA. She was an administrative assistant at OSF St. Mary Hospital for over forty years. Roseann was an active member of ABWA. She enjoyed singing in church choir, playing cards with friends and traveling throughout her life. Roseann spent the winters in Florida and looked forward to the annual family summer vacation to Union Pier, MI. Over the past two years Rosie called The Timbers of Shorewood her home. Getting together with friends for coffee, lunch or dinner always brought her much joy. Roseann was a kind, good-hearted person who loved being with her family and friends. She was a wonderful aunt, who treated all her nieces and nephews like her own. We will miss her dearly. Survived by her nieces and nephews, Sue (Jeff) Sullivan, Steve (Laura) Shea, Tim Shea, Shari Shea, Debbie (Mike) Wittmann, Mike (Roxanne) Shea, Teresa (Brent) Ostoich, Dave (Rita) Shea, Jeff Shea (Sullivan Hester), Kathy (Bill) Duffy, John (Amy) Shea, and Karen (Mike) Sheppard; numerous great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jim (Pat) Shea, and Gene (Rosie) Shea. The family would like to express our gratitude to her physicians and the caring nursing staff at OLA and Joliet Area Community Hospice. Visitation will be held 3 to 5 p.m. at Watson Thomas Funeral Home, Galesburg, IL, on Sunday, December 27, 2020. As it was her request, cremation rites have been accorded and funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2020 St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Wataga, IL. Father Deus-Dedit Byabato will officiate. Inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Galesburg, IL. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, face masks, social distancing, and limited occupancy will be enforced. Donations in Roseann’s memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 would be appreciated.
