Maurice D. Cartee

View a video memorialMaurice D. Cartee, 58, of Abingdon, died at 9:20 p.m. Monday March 5, 2012 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. Maurice was born in Niles, MI on August 26, 1953 the son of Aubrey Chester and Helen (Upton) Cartee.  He is survived by his soul mate, Debra Cartee of Abingdon; a daughter, Brandi Cartee of Abingdon; a brother, Arthur G. Cartee of Galesburg; and 2 sisters, Ellen “Charline” Parrigan and Angela Mendez both of Galesburg.  He is also survived by one grandson, Tomas D. Foutch.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Chester Cartee and Helen Mathis, and one brother. Maurice served in the US Marine Corp.  He had been active in Tae Kwon Do.  He loved making things with his hands, especially carpentry, a trait his Mom instilled in him.  He was of the Pentecostal faith. Cremation rites have been accorded.  Visitation will be Friday March 9, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to the family.
