Max W. Whitcomb, 62, of Galesburg, died at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at home. Max was born on February 26, 1950 in Galesburg, the son of W.F. “Sam” and Maxine L. (Jones) Whitcomb.  He married Susan Reeves on January 1, 1977.  Max is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan; three daughters, Stacey (Eric) Buescher of Morton, Dr. Sara (Toby) Kurtis of Bettendorf, IA, and Samantha Whitcomb of Bloomington; three sisters, P. Joan Larsen of Monmouth, Linda Porch of Chula Vista, CA, and Jackie (William) Kistler of Golden, CO; and two grandsons, Brody Buescher and Sam Kurtis.  He was preceded in death by his parents. Max worked at Cottage and St. Mary's hospitals followed by a thirty year career in orthopedic sales. He played drums for thirteen years for the band Cottonwood South. He was a former member of the Galesburg Little League Board and was an avid baseball fan.  A Celebration of Life will be held at Cherry Street, 57 South Cherry Street, Galesburg from 2-5 on Sunday, May 20th. All friends and family are welcome to attend.   Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be designated later.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Funeral Home, Galesburg.
