Michael J. Rupert

Michael J. Rupert, 58, of Galesburg, died at 12:20 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012 at home. Mike was born February 24, 1954 in Galesburg, the son of Paul and Anna (Tate) Rupert.  He married Linda Rupp on April 1, 1984.  Mike is survived by his wife, Linda of Galesburg; three sons, Nicholas of Branson, MO, Christopher and Matthew both of Galesburg; four daughters, Mitzi Rupert of Springfield, MO, Kristy Rupert, Kari Rupert, and Karen Rupert all of Galesburg; and eight grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Jay Jay, Dayton, Mya, Chance, Justin, Antwone, Ashton, and Emma.  He is also survived by a brother, Richard (Beverly) Rupert of Rock Island; and two sisters, Paula (Tony) Swanson of Galesburg, and Roseanne Rupert. Mike was a self employed carpenter working in the Galesburg area for many years.  Mike’s hobbies included fishing, hunting, and working on cars.  Mike was known to have a slight addiction to drinking pop. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.  Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date in Hope Cemetery, Warren Co.  Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established later.
