Mildred E. “Granny” Farrell, 97, of 1083 N. Seminary St., Galesburg, died on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.  She was born on November 25, 1913 in Galesburg, the daughter of Maurice and Minnie (Dickinson) Mackey.  She was educated in the Galesburg schools.  She married Jason P. Burkholder and later to William P. Farrell, both of whom preceded in her in death. For many years, she was employed as an emergency room nurse at St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.  She owned and operated Farrell Ceramics.  She supported the activities of the Knox County Democratic Party.  She was a member of Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Woods of Galesburg, 5 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Maurice Farrell; one sister, Helen Milan; and one great granddaughter. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church on Wednesday, March, 23, 2011 with Rev. Deus-Dedit Byabato officiating.  Private family burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg.  Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Watson Funeral Home, with the rosary being prayed at 9 a.m.  Memorials may be made to the Guardian Angels Humane Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
