Myrna L. Hass

Myrna L. Hass, 85, of Galesburg, died at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Marigold Health Care Center. Myrna was born August 8, 1926 in Kewanee the daughter of Leonard and Grace (Bjorling) Nelson.  Myrna graduated from Walnut Grove Twp. High School and was a lifelong resident of Knox County .  She married James Hennenfent in 1946 in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death in 1960.  Myrna is survived by two sons, Donald (Julie) Hennenfent of Indianapolis, IN and Louis (Dianne) Hennenfent of Springfield; and one daughter, Donna (Terry) Hattendorf of Downers Grove.  She is also survived by her greatest joys, eight grandchildren, Keri Hennenfent, Kristen Hennenfent, Meagan Hennenfent, Michael (Amy) Hattendorf, Meredith (Eric) Coley, James Hennenfent, Lauren Grace Hennenfent, and Allison Mae Hennenfent; and two great grandchildren, Elsa and Claire Hattendorf.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister, Winifred McClay. Myrna worked in the office at Gale Products for many years, and also worked for Naeir Corp.  She volunteered for many years at OSF St. Mary Medical Center and was a 45 year member at Little John Conservation Club.  She was a charter member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Myrna played in a card group for many years, and loved going to the gambling boats and auctions with her friends. Funeral services for Myrna will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2012 at Watson Funeral Home, with Rev. Tim Anderson and Deacon Jim Hanneghan officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Juvenile Diabetes Association.
