Norman Lee Hickenbottom

Norman Lee Hickenbottom, 88, of Galesburg, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Saturday, January 14, 2017. Norm was born December 15, 1928 in Macomb, the son of Roy Edward and Gertrude Mae Rutledge Hickenbottom. He married the love of his life Shirley Faye Ebbert at the Presbyterian Church in Bushnell on June 29, 1947. Norm was an automobile salesman for over 45 years, owning several different dealerships. He and Shirley were active members of the Silver Sneakers Club at the YMCA. Norm enjoyed buying old cars and restoring them; as well as collecting antique toys. Norm is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirley of Galesburg; three children, Brenda Goodman of Galesburg, Michael (Janet) Hickenbottom of Magnolia, TX, and Mark (Sue) Hickenbottom of Greenbrier, AR; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Forrest Leon Hickenbottom. Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded and private family services will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
