Nova Goedeke

Nova Goedeke, 91, of Marigold Health Care Center, died May 19, 2013 at 9:40 p.m. She was born April 2, 1922 in Cave City, KY.  The family moved to Illinois in 1927.  She attended Indian Grove School and Gerlaw School.  Nova married Orville Goedeke on April 17, 1947 in Monmouth, IL. Nova is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Orterry of Monmouth and Evelyn Shaver of Salinas, CA; and brothers, Chester Esters of Alpha; Simeon Esters of Morgan Hills, CA; and Jim Esters of Osage Beach, MO.  She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Her husband Orville preceded her in death on March 21, 1999.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, Orba and Mary (Brooks) Esters; brother, Bill Esters and infant brother, Orba Laverne Esters. Nova was a homemaker, an avid gardener, former Sunday school teacher, a member of Christian Women where she created many crafts.  She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m.  Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home, Galesburg. Rev. John Carlson will officiate.  Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Baptist Church.
