Orville Dean Mixon, 68, of 530 Hillbrook Estates, Galesburg, died at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010 in Knox County Nursing Home. Orville was born on December 12, 1941 in Stroud, OK the son Hunter and Della Williamson Mixon. Surviving Orville are his sons, John (Kelly) Mixon of Galesburg and Emmanuel Mixon of Florida; his daughters, Melva Jean Brown and Jacqueline Mixon-Dutton both of Galesburg. Also surviving are his brothers, Alvin (Helen) Mixon, Sr. and Hunter Mixon, Jr. both of Oklahoma; his sisters, Levonne Davis, Shirley (Lindell) Goodman both of Oklahoma, and Jeanell Britton of Galesburg. He also has 9 grandchildren and 12 great children. Orville was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, and a grandson. Orville graduated from Stroud High School in Stroud, OK. He then attended and graduated from Okmulgee Vocational Technical School in Okmulgee, OK. Orville was a certified transmission and automotive technician for Galesburg Lincoln Mercury for 25 years. Orville was also the pastor at Rubey Street Baptist Church in Macon, MO. Orville enjoyed many things in life, especially spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also loved fishing and sports. Funeral service for Orville will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Watson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
