Patricia A. Leeson

Patricia Ann Leeson, 71, Barcelona, Spain and formerly of Galesburg, IL died on November 14, 2020 in Barcelona.   Pat was born May 27, 1949 in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of Thomas & Evelyn Grimm Leeson.  She graduated from Costa High School in 1967 and Western Illinois University in 1972.  After completing studies at Western, she returned to Galesburg and worked at Knox College, during which time she had an opportunity to assist with their foreign study program in Barcelona.  And the rest, as they say, is history.  In her typical adventurous fashion, she decided to move permanently to Barcelona and began working as an Editor at Prous Science in 1976.  She continued in that position when Prous Science was acquired by Thomson Reuters in 2007.  She retired in February 2011.  Pat was a talented singer and guitarist and loved all types of music.  She enjoyed travel, learning new languages, playing cards, and trivia.  She liked watching soccer, especially FC Barcelona, and was a life-long St Louis Cardinals fan.  She loved spending time with friends and family, bringing her unique sense of humor to most every occasion.  She truly was the life of the party.   Pat is survived by her brothers Michael (Lynne) Leeson, Hendersonville, TN; Philip (Susan) Leeson, Urbandale, IA; Edward (Patti) Leeson, Galesburg, IL; her sister Mary McGee, Galesburg; 10 nieces & nephews and 11 great-nieces/nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law.  Funeral services were held in Barcelona on November 17 and cremation has been accorded.  A graveside service and Interment of ashes at St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg are TBA.  Memorials may be made in Pat’s memory to St. Patrick’s Church, 858 S.
