Patricia L. Shepherd

Patricia L. Shepherd, 72, of Oneida, died at 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.   Pat was born on November 13, 1936 in Galesburg, the daughter of Virgil and Alma Haynes Ruland. She married Ross Shepherd on June 27, 1954 in Galesburg. Surviving Pat are her husband, Ross of Oneida; a son, Bruce of Fenton, MO; 2 daughters, Bonnie Shepherd-McCommons of Kewanee, and Brenda Shepherd of Oneida. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, Patrick (Darcy) McCommons and Erin (Jake) Stevenson, a great granddaughter, Isabelle McCommons. She was preceded in death by a great grandson, Shepherd Stevenson.    Pat graduated from Galesburg High School in 1954. She worked at the Knox County Nursing Home for 10 years. She was a member of Rio Presbyterian Church, Rio ladies service guild, had taught Sunday school for over 20 years, and had been a girl scout leader.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rio Presbyterian Church, Rio. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home, Galesburg. Burial will be in Rio Baptist Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Rio Baptist Cemetery or to Rio Presbyterian Church.
