Patrick J. Nemeth

Patrick James Nemeth, 60, of Galesburg, died at 1:55 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center, Galesburg. Patrick was born on August 16, 1949 in Galesburg, the son of Raymond R. and Patricia Jean (Johnson) Nemeth.  He married Shirley L. Gibb on October 4, 1969 in Galesburg.   He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Galesburg; 2 sons, Raymond Robert Nemeth of Peru and Joseph Michael Nemeth of Ladd; and 2 brothers, John Nemeth and Scott (and Lisa) Nemeth both of Galesburg.  He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Isabelle, Anna, and Marissa.  He was preceded in death by his parents. He served in the National Guard for 6 years, during that time he guarded Air Force One for JFK.  During his time in the National Guard he also served as a recruiter.  He had worked for many years as a circulation manager and director various newspapers including the Galesburg Register Mail, Quad City Times, and the Bureau County Republican.  He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  He enjoyed making stained glass, an art in which he was self taught.  He was also a music lover and self taught guitar player along with other instruments.  He enjoyed being at home where he loved to work in the yard. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Watson Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with Rev. Deus-Dedit Byabato officiating.   Private family burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Cremation rites will be accorded.  Memorials may be made to the family.
