Paul E. Hanna, 84, of Kewanee, formerly of Galesburg, died at 2:52 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Kewanee Care, Kewanee. Paul was born on August 3, 1925 in Gerlaw, the son Alvin C. and Nora M. Gillen Hanna. He married Helen Thompson on February 9, 1963 in Monmouth. Surviving Paul is his wife, Helen of Kewanee; a daughter, Mary (Paul) Alepra of Kewanee; his two grandchildren, Madeline and David Alepra; and a sister-in-law, Elsie Hanna of Kewanee. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and a sister. Paul farmed in the Alexis area along with trucking. He later was a partner in Ralston/Hanna Garden Center in Galesburg for 28 years. After he retired he worked at Ace Hardware in Galesburg for several years. Paul was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kewanee and a former member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Galesburg. He was a member of Father J.O. Hunt Knights of Columbus Council 556, Galesburg. A US Army veteran Paul served his country in Korea from 1950 to 1952. Funeral Mass for Paul will be Tuesday, 10 a.m. February 9, 2010 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home, Galesburg, with the rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery, Alexis. Memorials may be made to Wethersfield Elementary Library Fund, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, or to St. Mary’s Church.
