Paul Joseph Huels died on February 25, 2016 at his home in Fishers, IN after a 19 year struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. Paul was born in Galesburg, IL on July 31, 1944 to Joseph and Elizabeth Huels. He graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1972, remaining close to those classmates for years. He earned a degree in Business at Western Illinois University after serving in the Army for 2 years. He was a buyer at Dick Blick Company for 32 years. He married Jill Smith in 1977. They went through 5 houses, 4 dachshunds, many used cars, and lots of love while raising their two children in Galesburg. In 2009, they moved to the Indianapolis area. Preceding Paul in death were his parents, two sisters (MaryAnn Huels and Berndaine Brown) and a brother (Al Huels). Surviving him are his wife, Jill; his son Matthew (Nicki Stull) Oak Park, IL; his daughter Meggie Dials (Josh) Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Wynne and Cormac Huels, and baby girl Dials due in August. Also surviving him are his sister-in-law Maureen Huels, Galesburg, and five nieces and nephews. Paul was passionate about his family, faith, and Notre Dame football. He had the best laugh and the greatest dimples in the world. He was one of God’s truly good people who handled his disease with tremendous grace. There will be a memorial service at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home in Galesburg at 1:00 Saturday, March 5. He will then be buried in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
