Paul R. “Goob” Johnson, 72, of 121 Dietrich, Galesburg, died at 4:20 p.m. on Thursday August 17, 2006 at home. He was born on September 24, 1933 in Galesburg, the son of Reuben A. and Vernice A. Dossett Johnson. Paul married Ellen L. Bean on April 2, 1955 in Knoxville, IL. She died on June 3, 1998. He is survived by 1 son Paul David Johnson of Galesburg, and 3 daughters: Dorothy J. (Matt) Wilmot of Rio; Marlene M. Ritnour and Bonnie L. (Blaine) Schick both of Galesburg. He is also survived by 1 brother John J. Johnson of Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Paul worked for the Knox County Highway Department for 30 years and was a member of Laborers Local 538. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, flowers, and loved to roll dice. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday , August 21, 2006 at Wataga Cemetery, Wataga, IL, with Rev. Marilyn Anell officiating. Visitation will be from 5:30-7 p.m. on Sunday at Watson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wataga Cemetery, Wataga, IL. Memorials may be made to Community Hospices of America.
