He is survived by two sisters, Irene Hoben and Rachel Stablein, and his wife Alice. He will be greatly missed by his 26 surviving grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Phil was predeceased by his sister Anita Lomax and his grandson Ryan Stablein. Phil worked as an accountant for the RCA Victor Company, Camden, New Jersey for 38 years until his retirement at age 58 in 1988.  Besides volunteering for many years on the Parish Council for St. Francis de Sales Parish in Barrington and many years as Treasurer for the Tavistock Hills Swimming Club, Phil enjoyed gardening and was an ardent football fan for both the college and professional teams, and watched almost every game of the basketball March Madness series each spring.  He also attended daily Mass at St. Rose of Lima Parish in Audubon, New Jersey with his wife.  Phil and Alice just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and renewed their vows at a Mass and gathering in Ruskin, Florida, with 40 friends and family members, including children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Funeral Mass is scheduled to be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home, Galesburg. The Rosary will be prayed at 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
