Polly J. Guerin

Polly Jean Guerin, 67, of Galesburg, died at 7:27 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2020 at home. Polly was born August 3, 1952 in Galesburg the daughter of Levi and Merle (West) Nelson.  She married the love of her life, David O. Guerin on May 3, 1969 in Galesburg.  He survives as do two sons, James Guerin of New Windsor and Jason Guerin of Galesburg; two daughters, Kristina Guerin and Stephanie (Bobby) Zimmerman both of Galesburg; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  Polly is also survived by four sisters, Marsha Arnold of Galesburg, Alfreda (Jerry) Bowen of London Mills, Pat (Chris) Lavely of Tennessee, and Shelly (Richard) Winkler of Galesburg.  Along with her parents, Polly was preceded in death by an infant son, Jeremy Daniel Guerin, and a daughter, Dana Guerin on August 11, 2016. Polly was a hard worker and worked at different hotels in Galesburg through the years.  She also worked many years in retail, the last being 14 years at Big Lots, until her retirement in 2014.  Polly enjoyed crafts and shopping.  She also enjoyed being at her house, gardening, tending to her flowers, and cleaning.  She loved to decorate her home and had décor for every holiday.  She always said she only had two vices, coffee and cigarettes.  She could often be found enjoying them on her front porch. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  A celebration of Polly’s life will follow from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Thomas Legacy Center, Galesburg.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
