R. Jane Bayless-Maupin

Rita Jane Bayless-Maupin, 88, of Galesburg, died at 5:28 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Seminary Manor.  Jane was born on March 27, 1919 in Galesburg, the daughter of Mark J. and Clara Riegel Carr.  She married Harold E. Bayless on January 9, 1944 in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death in 1983.  She later married Miles Maupin in September 14, 1990.  He died on November 10, 1994 .  Surviving are 2 sons, H. Jeffrey (Janet) Bayless of Berthoud, CO and David L. (Rhonda) Bayless of Denver, CO; a daughter-in-law, Judy Bayless of Galesburg; a sister, Mary Grady of Galesburg; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  Jane was preceded in death by a son Alan Bayless on December 30, 2004, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.   Jane graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1937.  She was a switchboard operator at Burlington Northern Railroad for 25 years, retiring in 1983.  Jane was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Galesburg.  Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2008 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ernest Pizzamiglio, officiating.  Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Watson Funeral Home, with a wake service at 6 p.m.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
