Rachel Abarca, 48, of Galesburg, died at 1:22 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2021 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. Rachel was born November 21, 1972 in Galesburg, the daughter of Andres Abarca, SR. and Maria Duenas.  Rachel graduated from Galesburg High School in 1990.  She is survived by her four children, William Grant, III, Rogelio Grant, Cynthia Grant, and Leticia Shumpert; five grandchildren, William Grant, IV, Layla Grant, Antonio Brim, Zadaya Williams, and Royalty Grant.  She is also survived by three brothers, Andy Abarca, Elias Duenas, and Michael Abarca; two sisters, Veronica Abarca and Sylvia Alva; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her fiancé, Barry Fletcher.  Rachel was preceded in death her father, Andres Abarca; a grandson, Antonio Brim; a granddaughter, Zadaya Williams; and her maternal grandparents, Samuel and Carmen Gayton. Rachel worked at McDonald’s in Galesburg for over 20 years.  She loved to be with her family, playing cards with her kids and friends.  Rachel also enjoyed her music and being outside.  She was one of a kind person and very special lady.  Rachel never met a stranger, everyone was family to her.  She always greeted you with a smile.  Rachel was always strong for others when they couldn’t be for themselves.  She motivated you to do your best at anything you put your mind to.  She will be missed by many. Visitation will be 11 to 12 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Funeral Services will follow at 12 p.m. Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate.  Memorials may be made to the family.
