Raymond Manuel Medina

Raymond Manuel Medina, 77, Galesburg, died at 4:30 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2018 at home. Ray was born October 23, 1940 in Galesburg, the son of Cenobio and Petra (Martinez) Medina. He married Donna Marie Haines on July 2, 1970 in Galesburg. Ray is survived by his wife, Donna of Galesburg; one son, George L. Waugh, III of Galesburg; one daughter, Stephanie Marie Hall of Galesburg; six grandchildren, John Waugh, Jeffery Hunter, Jason Waugh, Taylor Waugh, Mya Hall, and Austin Hall; and six great grandchildren. Ray is also survived by three brothers, Peter Medina, Juan Medina, and Paul Medina all of Galesburg; and one sister, Mary Gutierrez of Galesburg. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Mario Medina; and three sisters, Nellie Miranda, Josephine Medina, and Tillie Ojeda. Ray worked for 35 years at Maytag, retiring in 1993. He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He was also a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved working in the yard, but truly loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg, with the rosary being prayed at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Rev. William T. Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made in Ray’s memory to St. Patrick’s Church or to OSF Hospice.
