Richard F. Ballard

Richard F. Ballard, 72, of 279 Custer Ave., Galesburg, died at 3:50 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2008 at Proctor Hospital, Peoria, Illinois.  Richard was born on August 18, 1935 in Freeport, the son of Lee and Arley Lestikow Ballard.  He married Carole Carmody on July 7, 1964 in Galesburg, she survives.  Surviving are a daughter, Connie Shamley of Joliet; 2 brothers, Orlen and Bob Ballard; a sister, Dorothy Ohie of California; a grandson Randy Varnold; and a granddaughter, Brooke Varnold.  Richard first worked as an extruder at Gale Products and then worked in the packaging department at United Facilities.  He served in the US Army.  Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Watson Funeral Home.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.
