Richard Harrison

Richard “Dick” L. Harrison, 76, of Galesburg, died at 10:20 a.m.  Friday, February 1, 2013 at home.  Dick was born October 7, 1936 in Galesburg, the son of Burrell and Nellie (Wilkins) Harrison.  He married Janice Ellison on December 27, 1958 in Galesburg.  She preceded him in death on September 28, 2000.  Dick is survived by two sons, Tony (Kari) and Tom (Ronda) both of Galesburg; three daughters, Patty Harrison of Galesburg, Paula Harrison of Littleton, CO, and Amy (Mike)Lybarger of Galesburg; and nine grandchildren.  He is also survived by four sisters, Elizabeth St. George, Natalie Steck, Lena Robertson, and Katherine Berry all of Galesburg.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, and two brothers. Dick worked as a supervisor for O.M.C. for 30 years.  He then worked at Carl Sandburg College for 14 years.  Dick was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Father J.O. Hunt Knights of Columbus Council 556.  Dick enjoyed spending time with his family especially his children and grandchildren.  He loved to dance and go to the river boat. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2013 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home, Galesburg.  The rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m.  The family requests memorial contributions be directed to Costa Catholic Academy.
