Richard R. Wilkes, Jr.

Richard Wayne Wilkes, 51, of Galesburg, died Saturday, October 3, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Richard was born March 13, 1969 in Long Beach, CA the son of Richard Wayne and Wanda Marie (Blile) Wilkes, Sr.  After high school he served in the US Navy.  Richard married Kimberly Rae Sperry on September 30, 1995 in Galesburg.  She preceded him in death on March 9, 2019.  Richard is survived by his fiancé, Ashley Clark of Galesburg; an aunt, Judy Krueger of Galesburg; cousins who were like sisters, Jennifer Wilkes and Kimberley (Justin) Morefield both of Bloomington, and the late Jessica Jones.  He is also survived by his beloved pets, a cat, Sissy, and a dog, Baby Girl. Richard worked for several years in housekeeping at Heartland Health Care in Galesburg.  In his free time he enjoyed assembling model ships, wrestling, playing video games; and watching Star Trek.  He also enjoyed playing Magic: The Gathering and farm simulator on his PS4.Cremation will be accorded.  Private family services were held.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to the family in c/o Watson Thomas Funeral Home, 1849 N.
