Robert A. Hendricks

Robert A. Hendricks, 81, of Galesburg, died at 8:38 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2010 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg. Bob was born on January 20, 1929 the son of Arthur and Marie (Tipton) Hendricks.  He married Joyce Nemeth on February 28, 1950 in Galesburg.   Bob is survived by his wife, Joyce of Galesburg; 2 sons, John of Galesburg and Phillip (and Jonna) of Abingdon; 3 daughters, Kris Hendricks of Wataga, Diane Lambrecht of Morton, and Lori (and Jim) Pickrel of Galesburg; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by a brother, Larry (and Maxine) of Galesburg; and a sister, Marilyn Hayes of Galesburg.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard. Bob attended Galesburg Schools.  He served in the United States Navy.  Bob was a supervisor at OMC Gale Products for 30 years, retiring in 1980.  After retirement he worked part time at Wareco and Option Care.  Bob umpired and coached little league in Galesburg for many years.  He was an avid golfer and Galesburg Girls Silver Streaks fan. He  kept score for girls basketball for several years.  Bob was a die-hard Cubs and Bears fan.  Bob was of the Methodist faith. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2010 at Watson Funeral Home, with prayers at 12 p.m. , Father Joseph Presley, I.C. will officiate.   Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation and no funeral services will be held.  Burial of ashes will be at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or to Hospice Compassus.
