Robert Anderson

Robert A. Anderson, 42, of Kirkwood, Illinois, died at 4:45 p.m. on April 14, 2007 at VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, IL. Bob was born on October 31, 1966 in Galesburg, the son of Harry D. and Ruth Lee Anderson. He married Anita Centeno on February 4, 1989 in Galesburg. Surviving Bob are his wife Anita of Philadelphia, PA; his mother Ruth (Rod) Stirewalt of Verona, MO; 2 daughters: Meghan and Kayla both of Philadelphia, PA; 2 brothers: Travis (Stacy) of Galesburg and Randal of Kirkwood; a sister Lori Anderson of Kirkwood; 2 grandfathers Edwin Morris of Roseville and Harry V. Anderson of Monmouth; 5 step sisters: Tina Thompson of Verona, MO, Trisha (David) Moberly of Mt. Vernon, MO, Jamie (Thomas) Craig of Kansas City, MO, Abra Whisenhunt of Neosho, MO, and Brittany Stirewalt of Monett, MO; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, his paternal grandmother, and his maternal grandparents. He was a retired Staff Sergeant in the US Army. While serving in the Army he was a linguist, interpreter, and interrogator, fluent in Korean. He had been in Warrant Officer training school in the 1990’s. He was involved in the 1984 Yorkwood Football State Championship. He had received his Associates Degree from Carl Sandburg College. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday April 20, 2007 at Watson Funeral Home, with the Reverend Joseph Presley, officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Watson Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Galesburg, with military honors performed by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
