Robert “Bob” Cehrs, 80,of Galesburg, died at 4:15 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Seminary Manor. Bob was born on July 4, 1930 in East Liverpool, OH the son of C.L. “Roy” and Irene Salser Cehrs. He married Margaret Wright in 1965. Bob is survived by his wife, Peggy of Galesburg; three sons, Robert E., Jr. of Clanchard, MI, John W. of East Liverpool, OH, and Roy D. of Bethlehem, GA; and stepchildren, Lester Brock, Jim Shaw, Jr., Stephany Grawey, and Judy McMahon . He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by one brother Haskell. Bob served in the US Army. He worked as a machinist at Butler Mfg for 25 years. He enjoyed landscaping and after retirement he owned and operated his own landscaping business for several years. Bob enjoyed gardening and was named a master gardener by the University of Illinois Extension. He is Past Commander and member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285, Galesburg and was a member of Prairieland Baptist Church, Galesburg. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Watson Funeral Home, with Dr. Gary Bane officiating. Military rites will be performed by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285 Honor Guard. Visitation and fellowship will follow at Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285. Memorials may be made to the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285.
