Robert Eugene Matheny

Robert Eugene Matheny, 46, of Muscatine, IA, formerly of Galesburg, died at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016 in Muscatine. Rob was born September 13, 1970 in Moline, the son of Joyce M. Briggs and Harley E. Matheny. He married Paula Kennedy on July 15, 1989 in Kahoka, MO. She survives. He is also survived by his mother, Joyce M. Cox-Wright of Galesburg; his father, Harley Matheny of Abingdon; two sons, Robert Matheny, Jr. of Muscatine, IA and Tristan Matheny of Norman, OK; one daughter, Jensen Matheny of Muscatine, IA; and one grandson, Alex. He is also survived by two brothers, Steven Matheny of Abingdon and Joshua Cox of Chicago; and one sister, Georgia Matheny of Eldridge, IA. Rob worked for Pepsi, Co. He loved riding motorcycles and spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Alex. Rob also had an extensive movie collection and was an avid Star Trek fan. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2016 at Salvation Army Church, Galesburg. Envoy’s Lisa and Tim Thorson will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial of cremated remains will follow in Smithfield Cemetery, rural Cuba. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the family.
