Bob's Video Tribute Robert “Bob” Washabaugh, 70, of Gilson passed away at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, July 27 at Heartland Health Care Center. He was born on August 20, 1942 in Galesburg to LeRoy and Margaret Shaw Washabaugh and was formerly married to Patricia Irene Cowman. She survives. Bob is survived by two daughters; Rhonda (Mark) Bryant of Monmouth, IL, Sue Washabaugh of Rock Island, IL; a son, David (Keri) Washabaugh of Roachdale, IN; three grandchildren, Devin (Josh Wyman) Shores of Galesburg, Taylor Shores of Monmouth, and Cole Washabaugh of Roachdale, a sister, Emilie Derham of Monmouth; a niece, Lori (Amanda) Derham of Springfield, MO; and a nephew, Brad (Deb) Derham of Jerseyville, IL; as well as four great nephews and one great niece. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1960 and worked as a farmer for 45 years and was a member of the Knoxville Masonic Lodge. Bob will be remembered for his work in the pet department at Wal-Mart. He will also be remembered for raising registered Suffolk sheep and serving as Knox County Fair sheep superintendent for many years, being a longtime Chicago Cubs fan, his love of Triple Crown Racing, and his time spent at coffee breaks with his morning group at McDonalds. A visitation is scheduled from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 30 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 31 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home. Pastor Sue Bryce will officiate. Interment will be in Knoxville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The John Wayne Cancer Institute or to Orange Chapel United Methodist Church. His family would like to thank his friends and the staff at Heartland Health Care Center for the love, support and help they provided.
