Roberta L. Wood

Roberta Lea Wood, 72, of Moline, died at 5:41 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Unity Point Trinity, Rock Island, IL. Roberta was born September 30, 1948 in Galesburg, the daughter of Robert Leroy and Anna (Sholl) Sundberg.  Roberta graduated from GHS in 1966.  She later married Richard Eugene Wood on May 19, 1968 in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death on January 27, 1999.  Roberta is survived by one son, Chris (Marla) Wood of Monmouth; one daughter, Janelle (Russell) McCracken of Galesburg; and four grandchildren, Riana McGee, Alyssa McCracken, Mike and Noah Wood.  Roberta is also survived by one sister, Lesa (Steve Spors) Buck of Ettrick, WI; her step mother, Mary Jo Mularz of Bettendorf, IA; and her significant other, Dave McKitrick of Moline.  Along with her parents and husband, Roberta was preceded in death by one daughter, Julie Marie Wood on July 3, 2016; one sister, Judith Sharp; and a brother-in-law, Stan Buck. Roberta worked numerous places through the years but was last working in senior services as a program director.  Roberta was always active, from running her kids around, to volunteering her time and talents at the Galesburg Civic Art Center, Girl Scouts, the Orpheum, and the Prairie Players.  She also loved to line dance at the Silver Spur and was a member of the First Christian Church in Galesburg.  Roberta’s loving and charming personality will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m.  Pastor M.J. Fitch will officiate.  The funeral service may be viewed via livestream at www.watsonthomas.com .  Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, please follow the CDC guidelines regarding masks.  Burial will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to First Christian Church, Galesburg.
