Ronald Curtis Hinderliter, Sr., 71, of Canton, formerly of Galesburg, died at12:40 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2020 in the emergency room at Graham Hospital, Canton. Ron was born December 7, 1948 in Muscatine, IA, the son of Morley Ralph and Sarah LaJune (Ewing) Hinderliter.  He married Maggie Elizabeth Oldifeld on May 4, 1973 in New Mexico.  She survives.  Ron is also survived by three sons, Ronald “Ronnie” Hinderliter, Jr. of Marquette Heights, Morley (Valerie) Hinderliter of Monmouth, and Raymond (Debra) Hinderliter of East Galesburg; one daughter, Amanda Hinderliter of Galesburg; and three sisters, Sharon, Linda, and Kathy.  Ron is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Jasmine, Naomi, Harley, Chevella, Luke, Anastasia, Zoey, Andrew, Caleb, Hannah, and Kassie; two great grandchildren; and his girlfriend, Lillian Ringer of Canton.  Ron was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Mandy Hinderliter. Ron enlisted in the Air Force on May 9, 1968 and was honorably discharged on May 8, 1972.  Ron worked at Maytag for over 30 years, retiring as one of the last workers when the plant closed in 2006.  After retiring, Ron worked for a time in maintenance at the Knox County Court House.     Ron spent many years as a secret Santa and enjoyed volunteering for Harbor Light Hospice in Galesburg.  Ron enjoyed building models, a hobby he turned in to giving.  Ron built many doll houses, sold them and was able to use the proceeds to help children in need at Christmas time.  Recently, Ron was able to enjoy traveling. Private family visitation and funeral will be held.  Cremation will be accorded.  Private interment of cremated remains will be at a later date at East Linwood Cemetery.  Military honors will be performed.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
