Ronald E. Cossart

Ronald E. Cossart, 70, of Galesburg, died at 9:47 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2009 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, ER.    Ron was born on September 2, 1939 in Quincy, the son of Francis and Ferne Coker Cossart.  He married Beverly Eck on December 6, 1958 in Galesburg.  Surviving Ron is his wife, Beverly of Galesburg; a son, Daniel (Stormy) Cossart of Wintergarden, FL; a daughter, Rhonda (Tom) Strappe of Elmwood; 4 grandchildren, Travis Cossart, Wendi (Dave) Long, Megan Cossart, and Justin Strappe; and 1 great grandson, Nicholas Long.   Ron served in the US Naval Reserves for 6 years and served 2 years of active duty in the US Navy.  He worked for many years at Brown’s Specialty, Burlington Truck Lines, Dohrn Transfer, Halls Transit, and retired from TNT Holland in 2000.   Ron was a member of the Teamsters Union.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling with Beverly.  His most cherished moments were spending time with his family and his grandchildren.   Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at East Linwood Cemetery, with Deacon Jim Haneghan officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285 Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to OSF Hospice.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Funeral Home.
